Supreme Court Rejects Bail for Meerut Double Murder Accused
The Supreme Court on June 2, 2026, refused bail to Sagar, the primary accused in a 2020 Meerut double murder case where a woman and her father were killed just two days before her wedding. Justice Vikram Nath, heading the bench, made strong remarks, comparing the incident to an Ajay Devgn film, as Sagar allegedly shot them due to unrequited love, having stalked the woman. The Court allowed Sagar's counsel to withdraw the plea after indicating its disinclination to grant relief, enabling him to approach the Allahabad High Court again later. Sagar, around 18 at the time of the crime, has been in judicial custody since 2020.
