Water Crisis in Mudhara Village Hinders Marriages
Uttar Pradesh's Mudhara village in Mahoba district faces a severe water crisis, leaving approximately 40 eligible bachelors unmarried as families refuse to marry their daughters into a village without adequate water supply. Despite a multi-crore drinking water scheme under the Namami Gange project, pipelines and a water tank, installed over two years ago for the 2,000 residents, remain non-functional after a brief trial run. The villagers rely on a single functional hand pump, causing women and children to spend hours fetching water daily, impacting daily life and education, with wedding functions requiring expensive water tankers.
