Union Cabinet Approves Rameshwar-Paradeep Coastal Highway in Odisha
The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of a new 160.18 km coastal highway from Rameshwar to Paradeep in Odisha, costing ₹8,300.79 crore. This project, utilizing a hybrid annuity model across two packages, will enhance connectivity through Khurda, Puri, Kendrapada, and Jagatsinghpur districts. The highway will feature a four-lane configuration from Rameshwar to Konark and a two-lane with paved shoulder from Konark to Paradeep, designed for 100 km/hour speed. It aims to reduce travel time by 2.5 hours, cut fuel consumption and emissions, and boost socio-economic development in the region.
